The Bank of America Student Leaders Program is an amazing internship program. You work with a diverse group of talented high school students. Some have started their own businesses, others have held fundraisers for a great cause, and others have done both! The Student Leaders Program is pretty competitive with only approximately 225 student leaders being chosen out of thousands of applicants.
Notable characteristics that Student Leaders tend to have:
Amazing Community Service work: A lot of the student leaders i’ve met have started their own nonprofits, businesses, outreach programs, or have done some great initiative or helped out for a great cause. You don’t necessarily have to have done any of these things. But student leaders tend to have made a great difference in their communities.
Amazing Essays: If you tend to not have done a lot of things in your community, then don’t worry! A lot of student leaders have been chosen without awesome extra-curricular activities. However, their essays were probably pretty good. Try to convey how community minded you are and how you want to help other people and/or your community and what ways you want to do that
Diverse Backgrounds: The Student Leaders program really does an amazing job in bringing various high school students from varying socio-economic backgrounds. There are a lot of minorities that are represented in the program.
***Note, you do not have to possess any of these characteristics to get in. These are just general observations I have seen from some of the current and past student leaders. Additionally, having all of these characteristics does not guarantee your acceptance into the program
